Reflection- Final Blog Post

The GAME plan that I developed guided and shaped my learning throughout this course. The plan helped me to understand how to effectively integrate technology into my content area classes, and assess my and student learning. From following my GAME plan I have learned how to self-assess my technology skills to better learn for myself and to help guide my students' learning. From the GAME plan process I have become more of a self-directed learner, which is a skill I need to teach my students, and that I find difficult with middle schoolers. My new learning will guide my instructional practices by giving me ideas of how to use technology for inquiry and digital storytelling. By integrating new and exciting technology in my classroom I can engage my students and motive them to learn, and by getting students excited I can aid the in self-directed learning.

Based on my learning and progress during the GAME plan process I plan on revising this by finding a self-assessment for students to take on their own views of their own technology skills to give to my students this fall when we go back to school. I want my students to be involved in the GAME plan process, and I want to hear their skills to guide my lessons. After the GAME plan lessons I would also like to have my students write quarterly goals, which they can self-assess on their progress, which we can share and use to guide discussion during parent-teacher conferences.

As a result of my learning in this course I plan on integrating more technology into my classroom when school starts in two weeks. I plan of using digital storytelling to have my students create a movie about themselves to serve as an introduction to me and their peers during the first week of school. I will also have students self assess their technology skills and set goals for their first quarter of learning. I would also like to work with my grade level team to implement a problem-based learning assignment that aligns with the common core state standards. I plan on using the lessons I developed in this class and the ideas I have gained through our class blog, wiki and discussions with my students.
